About us

Who We Are

Turkana Integrated Aid (TIAO) is a community-based, non-profit organization working in Turkana County, Kenya, dedicated to strengthening communities through sustainable and integrated development initiatives.

We work with local communities, partners, and institutions to address some of the most pressing challenges affecting the region, including limited access to healthcare, food insecurity, climate vulnerability, and social inequality. Our goal is to empower communities with the knowledge, resources, and systems needed to build resilience and improve their quality of life.

TIAO believes that sustainable development is only possible when communities are actively involved in shaping their own future. For this reason, our programs prioritize participation, local leadership, and inclusive decision-making. By combining community engagement, research, innovation, and service delivery, we strive to create long-term solutions that respond to the real needs of the people we serve.

Our Approach

At TIAO, we recognize that the challenges facing communities in Turkana are interconnected. Health, food security, education, environmental sustainability, and livelihoods all influence one another. Our approach therefore focuses on integrated, multi-sectoral interventions that strengthen systems while empowering individuals and communities.

We work collaboratively with local stakeholders, community leaders, government institutions, and development partners to design programs that are culturally sensitive, evidence-based, and responsive to the evolving needs of the community.

Our initiatives combine research, innovation, capacity building, and service delivery to improve access to essential services while strengthening community resilience and sustainability. Through this holistic approach, we aim to ensure that our interventions not only address immediate challenges but also create lasting positive impact for future generations.
